OK I’m convinced

I’m going to vote for Obama and try to get some of the old folks in my life to do the same. Thanks Sarah for helping me see the light.

Nader Predicted Wall Street Meltdown - - in 2000…

“Nader Rips Mae and Mac,” declared the Milwaukee Sentinel Journal on June 16, 2000. “Ralph Nader, warning of a potential taxpayer bailout similar to the savings and loan crisis, urged lawmakers to cut government benefits to mortgage-market giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - which he called ‘poster children for corporate welfare.’”

Candidate Nader has called for an immediate halt to the increase in the national debt, an end to corporate subsidies and unconditional taxpayer bailouts of corporations, and a start to the aggressive prosecution of corporate criminals.

In his prepared remarks for New York Times editors in its Washington Bureau, Nader stated: “Given the contrast between the ‘free market’ ideology of the Republicans and the corporate or state socialism that is their increasing practice, the time is ripe for full Congressional hearings next year on the organized power, greed and lack of regulation that is shaking the foundations of Wall Street.”

I had considered going back on my decision to never vote for a democrat (never voting republican should just go without saying). I had thought about supporting Obama, but I can’t do it. I’m not going to let his empty words get a vote from me. I can’t do it. I’ve caved before and have been mad at myself afterwards. I won’t do it again. edit -(yeah right - I most likely will cave)

Paulson urges quick action on $700 billion bailout

I don’t know, it just feels like it to me. It sure seems like bullshit. Part of me thinks it’s all by design but I can’t prove it.

Socialism for corporate criminals. That’s what capitalism is?

Poll: Racial views steer some white Dems away from Obama

I haven’t heard a lot of talk about this. To be fair I haven’t be following the campaigns that closely. But I thought about this a lot. I like Obama and I think that if McCain is the other option, then he should definitely be president. But are enough Americans ready for a black president? I know people like to pretend that racism doesn’t exist anymore but if you’re honest with yourself you know it still pretty wide spread. It’s not the blatant kind of racism from the old days, it’s the under the surface kind that all white people know about. The kind where some white people talk about their dislike for blacks amongst themselves when no black people are around. They’d never join the Klan, and most are very careful to not let their feelings be known (unless they think you’re “one of the guys”) because they’re scared and they know it’s not really acceptable.

I’m amazed that Obama has come this far. I grew up in North Jersey and I know that although we’ve come a long way in this country, from my experience I just feel like there are tons of white people out there that will vote for McCain just because he’s not the black guy.

But then again maybe I’m wrong. The poll in this article is really stupid. I think if you’re intelligent you can’t really answer any of the questions because it forces you to make generalizations, and that’s exactly what the problem is in the first place.

Let’s reflect…

…over the past 7 years… with one of my favorite pieces of satire/prescience of all time. Behold the awesomeness that is Bush: ‘Our Long National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity Is Finally Over’ - by The Onion. Yeah I’m posting a link to something from January 2001. But as the bush Presidency draws to a close, I think it’s worth checking out again or for the first time if you never saw it.

Yeah I got nothing.

The FactCheck Wire

http://wire.factcheck.org/

I’ve been getting e-mails from FactCheck.org for a long time now. Im not sure how many years but it’s been for almost as long as the site has been around. It’s great during election time when the political ads start shoveling the shit faster than you can eat it. They sort through the lies and distortions on all sides so you can begin to try and think about this shit.

Now they have a new feature which looks really cool. The FactCheck Wire is a site with shorter versions of their usual political stories, so you can quickly find out about the latest crap the candidates and news outlets are spewing.

If anything it’s a good place to check when some bone head starts quoting shit from some commercial about how Obama is going to turn the country over to the terrists.

You can’t polish a turd either…

…and by that I mean McCain is a piece of shit. HAHAHAHA :)

The Daily Show nails it… yet again

July 16th, 2008

Yeah this was just brilliant at showing how really pathetic we’ve become in this country - and stupid too! Just great commentary on the state of the media these days. It’s a shame that Obama can’t even see what the cover is depicting - or that he can’t actually say it.

Best part: Obama is in no way upset about the cartoon depiction of him as a muslim extremist. Because you know who gets upset about cartoons? Muslim extemists!

Oh and Voolf Blitzah!! hahahaha ;)
